Your dog’s health is the most important part of their groom and to ensure their safety there are a few rules.
A dog with any sort of virus or disease should not be brought in to be groomed.
A dog which arrives unwell or contagious will be returned to the owner immediately. Some viruses are extremely contagious and can put other pets in danger. They can also put me in danger. Please be thoughtful. Dogs vaccinated against kennel cough can be contagious for up to 2 weeks post-vaccination so please be aware of this when booking in for grooming. It is important also to be aware that the vaccine for kennel cough may not protect your dog from all strains. Any new or prolonged cough in your dog should be disclosed to me before I start your dog’s grooming.
If a dog comes to me matted, I will try my best to save their lovely coat. However, if necessary, they may be clipped short. I will always try to warn you before doing this and will try my best to avoid it, however, if I can’t get hold of you, for the dog’s wellbeing, it may be done without your knowledge. I will always act in the best interest of your dog. This is also disclosed in the ‘Customer Agreement Form’ that each new client must fill out before any grooming is carried out.
If your dog is nervous or aggressive or firmly resists being groomed, please let me know if there is anything which I can do to make things easier for your dog, e.g. offer lots of breaks, calming music etc. However, if they become too distressed or aggressive towards me to the point whereby I cannot carry out my job safely or efficiently, please be aware that I may call for your dog to be collected early.
Under The Animal Welfare Act, owners have a legal duty to meet the ‘Five Welfare Needs’ of their pets, and whilst in our care, Dog Groomers must also share the same responsibility.
Named after my nine year old goldie Joey, who is, as I’m sure all dog-lovers feel about their own dog, the best boy.
